You should choose your pad to match the desired operating temperature of the pad/rotor surface. These prevent heat from transferring to the pistons which are in direct contact with the fluid. Also the majority of heat carried away from the pad/rotor surface is done so by the rotor not the pad. Heat sinks on the back of the pads are another option but require the caliper have enough clearance between the wheel and itself to accommodate the radiator.
